Exposure is the mission
KAUNAS PHOTO STAR focuses on exposure of emerging talents' work.
Portfolio reviews with a large number of reviewers seeing works of photographers is an important step towards the spread of works into exhibitions, publications, acquisitions and the recognition of the name of an emerging photographer.
Above that, KAUNAS PHOTO STAR offers awards that underline the mission of the project, which is, to shine spotlight on emerging talents for the international image community.

To be honest, it was for me the best festival I've ever been to. Not only the Review was well organized but also the idea of slideshows and the whole opening week were a great way to meet new people and gave us the possibility of seeing most of the works shown. I really appreciated the advice to change the order of my portfolio, that you gave me during the review.
I'm so happy to have won the portfolio review Kaunas and I'm really looking forward to have the opportunity of working with you to organize the exhibition next year. I had another look at the Kaunas Photography Gallery and it is amazing!

The Main Award
The winner of portfolio reviews will be invited to hold an exclussive solo exhibition at the largest photographic gallery in the Baltics KAUNAS PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY during KAUNAS PHOTO 2013.
KAUNAS PHOTO festival will cover the costs related to the exhibition, such as artist's travel and accommodation and transportation or production of works. If the winner is from outside Europe, the travel allowance migh only be partial. The winner will be selected by the reviewers present in Kaunas from one of the finalists present in Kaunas.
Exposure Awards
In order to encourage photographers, we have a number supplementary exposure prizes which will be offered to participants of both - online reviews and actual meeting in Kaunas. These exposure awards are invitations to hold personal exhibitions in respectable photographic isntiutions, but without financial commitments from the institutions and from KAUNAS PHOTO festival.
The first two runners-up for the KAUNAS PHOTO STAR reviews in Kaunas will receive invitations for
- solo exhibition at the Latvian Museum of Photography in Riga in 2013
- solo exhibition at the Museum of Photography in Siauliai in 2013. This is the only photo museum in Lithuania, freshly re-opening its renovated exhibition spaces.
The best rated photographers of the online review process will receive invitations for solo exhibitions at:
- the new space of Anzenberger Gallery in Vienna in 2013
- Braga image museum (Portugal) in 2014 or "Encontros da Imagem" festival (Braga) in 2013
- B & B photography gallery in Bielsko Biala (Poland) in 2013
The TOP 10 portfolios of the online reviews will be projected in the international Ballarat International Foto Biennale, Victoria, Australia in 2013
Prizes from SanDisk - "ACME" Europe
4 Top Finalists will receive:
2 memory cards SanDisk Extreme Pro CF 64GB (value of 520 EUR per card) and
2 memory cards SanDisk Extreme Pro CF 32GB (value of 260 EUR per card).
The official distributor of SanDisk in the Baltic States region is “ACME Europe”.
Contribution from EPSON
The Winner's exhibition to be shown at KAUNAS PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY will be produced by EPSON.
The Winner and other nominees will be announced during the event KAUNAS PHOTO STAR Photographers' Night on September 7, 2012
